The Blue Karipap’s Characters

The characters

- Dexy: A mute, he is an orphan from a small seaside town. He came to the city with the hope of becoming a DJ but instead lands a job washing dishes at the Blue Karipap cafe. His pent-up frustrations from not being able to speak take the form of an imaginary friend, and he finds himself caught between his naive, gullible self and a psychotic alter-ego.

- Ah-Tat: He lives with his grandmother in her sundry shop and dreams of becoming a professional basketball player.

The only problem is that he sucks at basketball. Like his fitness-freak grandmother, Ah Tat is hyperactive and always finds things to do.

- Massive (or Sugu): He lives and breathes aerosol and dreams of becoming a street artist. He has big ideas and a bigger afro to go with it.

When he gets an idea, it usually means trouble. He believes nothing can stop him because he is a "graffiti king and beatbox champion".

- Mr Bo: He can slice a potato in mid-air and came close to becoming a million-dollar chef. To his money-mad wife’s dismay, he gave up cooking to be a food scientist. Now he spends his days experimenting with weird concoctions that are a little short of appetising.

- Mrs Bo: She used to be the best party-dress fashion model in all of Batu Road until her career was sabotaged and taken over by a close friend. Miserable and bitter, she put on a lot of weight, married Mr Bo and gave up on her dreams. Coming from a poor family, she is an expert in counting money and never misses her afternoon television dramas.
